Specialty RCM Handoffs: Infusion, Behavioral Health and Imaging

Infusion, behavioral health and imaging handoff controls shown as distinct operational worklists

Start with the specialty's actual event

A specialty tracker should mirror a specific handoff. Infusion teams may compare completed appointments with documented service events at a consistent grain. Behavioral health teams may review modality, duration and note signoff checkpoints. Imaging operations may verify that a performed study has a matched final report. These are separate workflows; none of the three worklists decides coding or payment.

Oncology infusion: compare like with like

Define the local event grain and source reports. Mark noncomparable counts explicitly. A variance should point to administration record, authorization or operational evidence for human review, not to a presumed drug unit or revenue amount. See the Infusion Service Variance Log.

Behavioral health: track documentation checkpoints

Use a nonidentifying session alias. Record modality and duration evidence, signed-note state, local review and owner. Keep diagnoses and note contents out of the worklist. The source workflow and qualified reviewer remain responsible for adequacy and eligibility decisions. See the Session Documentation Readiness Tracker.

Radiology: verify the report handoff

Track order evidence, performed date, final report and match state. Investigate an impossible date sequence. Escalate urgent findings using the organization's clinical communication process, never through an administrative spreadsheet. See the Order-to-Final-Report Control.
